Chairman of Vietnam Leather Shoes Association (Lafeso) Nguyen Duc Thuan, Upon the effect of anti-dumping tariffs, Vietnam leather cap shoes volume exported to EU, showed a decrease of 102 million pairs in 2005; in 2006: 99,907 million pairs and in 2007: 91 million pairs. Otherwise, average cost for import of leather cap shoes originated from Vietnam to EU showed an increase of 10 percent compare to average import cost in investigation period.
The application of tariff for anti-dumping in past years has no guarantee for EU consumers, due to an increase of shoes cost effectd on them directly. Cost increase has effected on consumers with low incomes in EU – main object who utilize leather shoes from Asean countries, due to populer leather shoes have not been produced by EU producers, especilly shoes for children and pupils
With anti-dumping tariffs, many large and medium enterprises belong ing to leather shoes industry in Vietnam have no big purchases, thus close down or reduce labours as Phu hai Shoes factory in Hai Phong City, An Giang Shoes Company, Hanoi Leather shoes Company... The orders has been reduced for some companies due to the shortage of production, in which the companies in EU investigation, due to orders deliver to other countries by the customers. Many of them have not meet the requirements on product quality, delivery time, labourers with their high skills go away in the period of no orders and new labourers with low skills, thus, making costs for training as companies: An Giang Shoe, Thuy Khe Shoes...
It has also effected on the work and living of labourers, mainly woman
From above-said judge, once again, Lefaso has affirmed that Leather cap shoes dumping haven’t been sold by Vietnam leather shoes enterprises to EU and requires EU to consider the measures for anti-dumping for Vietnam leather cap shoes dumping, at the same time, abolishing anti-dumping tariff.
